College Prep

The Black Artists Dance Collective (TBADC) hosted their our College Prep Week in Summer 25’ at the esteemed Spelman College . This initiative is an extension of TBADC's two-week Tuition-Free Intensive, which was designed to provide exceptional young black dancers aged 13-18 in the metro Atlanta area with unparalleled opportunities for networking and training under the guidance of leading professionals in the dance industry. By eliminating financial and accessibility barriers, TBADC's College Prep Initiative aims to cultivate talent and shape the futures of these aspiring artists.

How it Works

Throughout the College Prep Week, students and their parents engage in enlightening seminars facilitated by the College Board, focusing on critical topics such as financial aid strategies and navigating the intricacies of the college application process. Additionally, this week provides an exclusive chance for students to audition for prestigious collegiate dance programs. Guided by the program's directors, Shonica Gooden and Jamal White, participants received invaluable mentorship, helping them shape their collegiate dreams and chart their journeys towards higher education.

It is with great pride we acknowledge our Summer '25 Cohort graduating seniors on all of their hard work during College Prep week this year! We love you and are so proud of you, the world is waiting for you! Throughout the years of our College Prep Programs, over $855,000 has been awarded! This help is instrumental support towards furthering these young dancer's careers and to the colleges listed below.

Outcomes

  • 100% of the rising seniors who participated in the program received college acceptances.

  • Seven rising juniors secured college summer intensives acceptances to Point Park University and two rising juniors to Pace University.

  • More than half of our students received summer acceptances and scholarships.
